The City Museum of Münster was founded in 1979 and since 1989 is to be found in Salzstraße. Alongside the museum foyer in the ground floor is also a row of shops. Over an area of 2.500 spm 1200 years of city history are presented in 33 cabinets.
The outline of the exhibition is provided by numerous models of the city and its architecture. Varying special displays present specific topics and aspects of Münster's artistic and cultural history.

Tuesday to Thursday: 10 am – 6 pm. Saturday, Sunday, and public holiday: 11 am – 6 pm. Closed on Monday.
Free admission.
An innovative multimedia guide is available to visitors (loan charge of EUR 2.00 (concession EUR 1.00); free of charge for children under 12). Hearing loops are available.
Guided tours by appointment. Foreign language guided tours also possible.
